To keep pace with growth and reinforce our Country Office team, we are looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Technical Project Manager, Abuja, Nigeria.
The work hours for this position is 40 hours/week.
This position is filled locally, with contractual conditions of the respective country. An expatriation is not intended.

These are your responsibilities

  • The Technical Project Manager, EHC will be responsible for leading and managing the development of program activity and work plans to support the implementation and coordination of program activities in the 9 project supported states (Bayelsa, Imo, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kogi, Plateau, Gombe and Lagos) in line with donor requirements.
  • Provide technical advice and input into all ear and hearing  care, EHC projects & budgets that are developed in Nigeria, ensuring that project design is in line with good practice and CBM technical guidelines.
  • Assist the Nigeria Country Director and country staff in identifying suitable partners in EHC and actively participating in partner assessments, in particular technical assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance in the development & implementation of the Nigeria EHC-plan by:
  • Leading the development of comprehensive EHC - programmes and projects including the EHC Concept Note development and the full proposal development to ensure their technical quality
  • Defining, together with the CBM’s Team Nigeria, the SMART objectives and indicators in the area of inclusive eye health for new projects.
  • Contributing to the alignment of CBM Nigeria EHC plan to national priorities and CBM’s Inclusive Health Initiative plan.
  • Strategic Partnership Development and Networking.
  • Support CBM Nigeria in conducting a mapping exercise and in identifying potential partnership and joint venture for CBM in Nigeria.
  • Identify the development of the new partnership opportunities with national and international stakeholders to ensure harmonization of interventions with national and international standards and guidelines.
  • Represent CBM Nigeria in national Ear and Hearing Care Health Professional bodies.
  • Consolidate CBM Nigeria participation in national EHC networks Staff Development.
  • Train Country Office program staff and consortium staff members in all relevant aspects in Ear Health, preparing and implementation of ear health programmes and standards as agreed with the CO and Inclusive Health Initiative.
  • Main work package with regard to implementing eye health partners.
  • Quality Management in Ear and Hearing Care (EHC).
  • Lead the introduction, implementation and follow-up of CBMs Quality Management Strategy in Nigeria; this includes.After introduction of the project strategy by the consortium members, together with the responsible project team, introduce the Strategy, in particular training for Quality EHC standards, follow-up on the partners’ observations and support the implementation of the action plans.
  • Conduct technical visits as recommended in the project approach, in collaboration with the project teams; this includes observations of procedures in outreach centers (schools and communities), the primary healthcare facilities, etc.
  • Bi-annually, review the reports of the hearing screening and fitting of hearing aid  outcome monitoring, give feedback and provide capacity development & hands-on trainings where needed.
  • Ensure sharing of lessons learned and promote best practices with CBM, partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Support CBM's EHC-partners to produce quality reports and review them before submission to CBM offices and the government.

These are your qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public health, social sciences, or development studies or any other relevant area.
  • A Master's Degree/Relevant certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with international development organizations, particularly programmes that have both national and community level engagement with at least five years experience in project management.
  • Experience in project budgeting and planning (minimum five years).
  • Experience working with with partners/organizations in a consortium.
  • Experience in advocacy and building collaborative relationships.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of project cycle management.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate clearly and respectfully.
  • Good networking and communication skills.
  • Knowledge on disabilities or other at risk groups and experience on mainstreaming issues (Gender, age, disability).
  • English fluency, both written and verbal, is a requirement.
  • Good analytic and project proposal development skills for institutional donors.
  • Good partnership management skills.
