About the role:
As Country Director for Togo and Benin, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of CBM's programmes and operations across both countries, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong partnerships, financial stewardship, and alignment with CBM's Federation strategy. You will identify opportunities for growth and impact, lead a high-performing team, and represent CBM to donors, government authorities, partners, the media, and local communities, maintaining a strong and credible organisational profile while advancing disability-inclusive development. 
The position is based in Lomé, Togo, with oversight responsibility for both Togo and Benin. The successful candidate will be employed under the contractual conditions of Togo. This is a locally recruited position, and expatriation support will not be provided.

You Will:

  • Fulfil the role of Country Director to deliver CBM’s Disability and Inclusive Development work in the country. 
  • Lead the development and effective implementation of CBM’s Country Plan and its operational requirements, ensuring high-quality performance and alignment with CBM’s Federation strategy. 
  • Ensure strong financial discipline within the Country Office and work with partners to meet all operational and financial reporting requirements. 
  • Identify programme opportunities and areas where the organisation can demonstrate its value and relevance. 
  • Promote CBM’s vision and Country Plan to external stakeholders, including through the development of effective relationships with other organisations. 
  • Represent CBM to partners, local and national governments, other development organisations, voluntary agencies, in-country media, donor agencies, and local communities to influence the country’s development agenda towards inclusion and poverty alleviation. 
  • Establish and maintain a high-quality workforce. 
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director, Global Programme Development and Implementation. 
 

These are your qualifications

  • A relevant academic degree in International Development, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field. 
  • At least 10 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior management role within an INGO or international development organisation, preferably in the disability, development, or related sectors. 
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and oversight of complex programmes and projects. 
  • Significant experience in organisational development, change management, and capacity building. 
  • Strong financial management expertise, including budgeting, financial controls, compliance, and institutional grant management. 
  • Demonstrated success in advocacy, partnership development, strategic alliance building, and influencing policy change. 
  • Excellent people leadership skills, including coaching, team development, delegation, performance management, and conflict resolution in multicultural environments. 
  • Strong communication, representation, and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience engaging with donors, government authorities, and other external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work diplomatically and effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, professional, and personal backgrounds. 
  • Commitment to Christian values and CBM’s mandate.

Desirable 

  • Lived experience of disability. 
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities, organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), or promoting disability inclusion and disability rights.
